June 9, 2010 - Heat Advisory

I am in New Orleans this week, and launched out early for a run.  It's a good thing I did.  There was a heat advisory, even at 6:30 AM.

I ran through the French Quarter down to the waterfront.  The Quarter has a certain very dirty feel at this hour, before the lemon-scented street sweeper comes through to brush away all beer and vomit and strands of broken Mardi Gras beads (and yes, they're there in the middle of the week too).

Down by the Mississippi River I caught the tail end of sunrise.

Then a rat scurried across the wide sidewalk in front of me.  As the run continued I started getting passed by a bunch of marines on their morning PT.  So I followed them along what ended up being a great route along the river.

Here's the bridge for the week:

Temp @ Finish: 85, feels like 93
